About Homestay:
India's Last Village. A Home That Has Stood for 350 Years.
At the far edge of the map, where the road ends and the Himalayas truly begin, lies Kuti Village — India's last inhabited village in the Vyas Valley of Pithoragarh district. Sitting at a breathtaking altitude, flanked by towering peaks and ancient glacial streams, Kuti is not just a destination. It is a world unto itself.
Tate Gurudev Homestay has been standing in this village for over 350 years. Run by Kunwar Singh Kutiyal and his family, this is one of the oldest and most storied homes in the valley — a living piece of Himalayan history that now opens its doors to travellers seeking something real, rare, and deeply memorable.
The Village & Its Legacy
Kuti is one of seven villages of the Vyaas Valley, located approximately 14 km before Adi Kailash — one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas. The village is home to around 60 families who reside here for six months of the year before the high-altitude winter sets in.
The name Kuti is believed to be derived from Kunti — the mother of the Pandavas — and local legend holds that Kunti herself stayed in this place for an extended time during the Pandavas' long exile. The stories of the Mahabharata are woven into the very soil of this valley, and you feel that weight of history with every step you take here.
Today, Kuti is being developed under the Government of India's Vibrant Village Programme, bringing new attention to this remarkable border community while its people work hard to preserve what makes it special.
The Homestay
This is not a hotel. It is a 350-year-old family home — thick stone walls, a warm hearth, and generations of Kutiyal hospitality folded into every corner.

- 2 comfortable rooms with a maximum capacity of 15 guests
- Home-cooked meals prepared fresh by the family — every guest eats the same wholesome, local food made with care and mountain-grown ingredients
- Clean drinking water and hot water provided at all times
- Self-service laundry facility available for guests
- Parking available on the road nearby
- Check-in: Anytime | Check-out: 10:00 AM
Pricing:

- ₹1,200/- per person per day — Dinner & Breakfast included
Please note: Kuti village currently does not have electricity grid connectivity. The homestay is managed accordingly, and guests are encouraged to embrace the simplicity and authenticity of off-grid mountain living.
The People — Bhotia Tribes of Kuti
The primary inhabitants of Kuti are the Bhotia tribes — a proud and warm community who have lived in these high valleys for centuries, practising a semi-nomadic lifestyle in harmony with the mountain seasons. Their rich cultural heritage — in their architecture, their food, their festivals, and their relationship with the land — is beautifully preserved and deeply felt.
Sitting with the family, sharing a meal of regional food prepared from local grains and vegetables, and listening to the stories of this place is an experience no resort or tour package can replicate.
What Surrounds You
Step outside and the Himalayas meet you at every turn. Kuti and its surroundings offer:
- Adi Kailash — the sacred peak, just 14 km away, revered as a Himalayan counterpart to Mount Kailash in Tibet
- Stunning waterfalls, alpine meadows, and rich flora and fauna across the valley
- Wildlife and birdlife in pristine high-altitude forest zones
- Trekking and mountaineering opportunities for all levels — from trail walks to serious high-altitude expeditions
- Pilgrimage routes connecting some of Kumaon's most sacred sites
This place is equally beloved by trekkers, mountaineers, pilgrims, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone who simply needs to be somewhere untouched and true.
